Style


A style is a definition of how a paragraph is displayed. Which font-family, size, margins, alignment, background color etc. a paragraph has.

 


Font Tab

This tab contains settings for character formatting.

 

Family

The font-family used for the style is specified here. Multiple font-families can be chosen. If the first one in the list is not installed on the system the next one will be used instead.

 

NOTE: The font-family used need to be installed on the client viewing the web site. Therefore when creating external web sites you should use fonts that are commonly installed on most machines. (For example Verdana).

 

 

Size

The size of the font can be given in different units. The commonly used units for web sites are px(pixels) and pt (points).

Bold

The bold value for the style can be set to Default, On or Off.

Italic

The italic value for the style can be set to Default, On or Off.

Small Caps

The small caps value for the style can be set to Default, On or Off. Small caps is when the font is rendered capitalized, but with a smaller size than normal.

Capitalization

The capitalization value for the style can be set to Default, First letter, Lower, Upper or Off.

Text Color

Opens the Color Picker which is used to select a color for the font.

Effects

These settings allows you to set Underline, Strikethrough and/or Overline on the style. When None is checked, all of these options are set to off.

 


Layout Tab

This tab contains setting for the layout of the element using the style.

 

Horizontal Alignment

Defines the horizontal alignment of content within the style. Possible settings for this property are: Default, Left, Center, Right and Justify.

Vertical Alignment

Defines the vertical alignment of content within the style. Possible settings for this property are: Default, Top, Middle and Bottom.

Indentation

Sets the indentation of the first row of each paragraph using this style.

Spacing between letters

Sets the spacing between letters. Possible settings for this property are: None (blank), Normal and Custom. When Custom is selected, a value and a unit can be specified in the boxes to the right.

Spacing between lines

Sets the spacing between lines for this style. Possible settings for this property are: None (blank), Normal and Custom. When Custom is selected, a value and a unit can be specified in the boxes to the right.

Margins

The margin is the space to the container of this style. If default margin is not used, the settings in the boxes below are used for this style. The margin can be set separately for Top, Bottom, Left and Right respectively.

Padding

The padding is the space between the border of the element using the style, and the content of it. If default padding is not used, the settings in the boxes below are used for this style. The padding can be set separately for Top, Bottom, Left and Right respectively.

 


Background and Borders Tab

This tab contains settings for the background and borders of the element using the style.

Background Color

Opens the Color Picker which is used to select a color for the background of this style.

Background Image

A background image can be selcted for the style. By clicking the "Select"-button the Select Resource Type dialog will be displayed. 

Tiling

This setting determines if and how to repeat the image in the background. Possible settings for this property are: Default, No tiling, Horizontal, Vertical and Both.

Pos Horizontal and Pos Vertical

Sets the horizontal and vertical positioning of the image on the background.

Border

If the "Use Default Border" checkbox is not selected, the borders can be set by choosing style, width and color for the Top, Bottom, Left and Right border respectively. The unit is set the same for all borders.


Misc Tab

This tab contains miscellaneous settings for the style.

 

Cursor

The cursor can be set for the style. This property is in use when the mouse is over the element with the style. Possible settings for this property are: Default, Auto, Crosshair, Help, Move, Pointer, Text, Wait, Resize North, Resize North East, Resize East, Resize South East, Resize South, Resize South West, Resize West, Resize North West.  

Custom Settings

This property can be used by advanced users to set CSS(Cascading Style Sheet) properties.
